Pokémon has just released the full image of a brand-new Pokémon who is expected to appear in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The devs acknowledged its resemblance to Terapagos today, but also suggested there’s more than meets the eye. The Pokémon has generated a lot of buzz since it was recently teased in the Pokémon Horizons anime.
The DLC was first revealed in February’s Pokémon Presents, and is slated to release in two parts later this year. The first will roll out in fall, while the other will be available in winter. Here is today’s full Pokémon reveal from the official Pokémon Twitter feed:
It is still rather early to be teasing DLC that won’t release until fall, so Pokémon naturally remained a little vague in their tweet. The only thing the tweet truly reveals is how absolutely cute this Pokémon is, and fortunately, that it will be available for both versions of this gen.
However, a new official blog post revealed some closer details about the upcoming Pokémon’s behavior and abilities. It seems this Pokémon will be able to “crystallize the energy in its body” to create shields, and even retreat into its shell to camouflage itself as a jewel.
This elaboration should make it much easier to compare the Pokémon to Terapagos, and it’s easy to assume the Pokémon will be a pre-evolution form.
But fans can also get an idea of what to expect in the upcoming DLC’s environment and gameplay. While the logo for the DLC already offers a variety of clues, the new Pokémon’s ability to hide by pretending to be a jewel makes it pretty clear that players could adventure through a crystal-themed and mountainous area.
