GRIS, the beloved platformer adventure indie from developer Nomada Studio and publisher Devolver Digital, has released a new trailer to announce it will join the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 on December 13th, 2022.
This will allow the game to include a variety of improvements, such as PlayStation’s DualSense features. For a quick review of the gameplay, here’s today’s trailer from Devolver Digital’s YouTube channel:
GRIS first launched back in 2018, but over the years, it has gradually been ported to other platforms like iOS, PlayStation 4 and Android. It’s been a long road to the next-gen experience, but now Xbox users and PlayStation 5 owners will have a very good reason to revisit this instant classic. Lately, publisher Devolver Digital is best known for the bold and humorous Cult of the Lamb.
However, GRIS is both airy and emotional, boasting extraordinary visual storytelling that still impresses today. It’s a highly immersive experience, which will make the opportunity to play the game with 120fps on the Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5 consoles absolutely invaluable.
The game already looked gorgeous on mobile devices, including the Nintendo Switch, but the bigger the screen the better. The art design of GRIS is impeccable, and nearly any screenshot is a worthwhile screensaver. It incorporates a variety of styles, including watercolor splashes and compelling geometry as needed.
PlayStation 5’s DualSense features should also be refreshing, and it’ll be very intriguing to see how the haptic feedback will be incorporated into GRIS’ adventure. Ideally, it will be more beneficial than distracting.
Now that GRIS will be introduced to the Xbox platform, fans are already clamoring for a Game Pass release, which is basically a guaranteed way to establish new fans by removing financial risk.
