Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, an upcoming action RPG about ghost hunters from developer Don’t Nod and publisher Focus Entertainment, will officially launch on November 7th, 2023. The announcement came with a cinematic trailer, explaining the core mythology and conflicts, as well as a full overview of the Collector’s Edition content.
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden will be available on PC and next-gen consoles for PlayStation and Xbox fans. You can watch the new release date trailer on the Focus Entertainment YouTube channel:
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden may be a self-proclaimed action RPG, but today’s trailer was both subdued and pensive, filled with gothic beauty and grandiose ideas. The cinematics continue be gorgeous and creative, with touches of romance, gloom, mystery and danger.
This tone is immediately distinguishable from the traditional games that tackle these kinds of supernatural elements. It adds narrative heft to the style of action revealed in last June’s gameplay trailer for Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden.
The story driven gameplay should go a long way, because the combat and adventure did feel a little generic at times. The central relationship between the heroes is truly interesting, and according to today’s trailer description, player decisions will be “dramatically impacting the story”.
The Collector’s Edition is pretty impressive, featuring many components that would be the standout in any other release. The statuette and signet rings both look quite detailed, and of decent quality.
Exclusive cover art emphasizes the bond between the heroes, instead of some gruesome enemy as usual. That artwork extends into the Collector’s Box. Art books are very common in these special editions, but this one should prove intriguing enough for such a visual story.
