Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, the anticipated Action JRPG from publisher 505 Games and developer Rabbit and Bear Studios, has officially been delayed according to a new update on its Kickstarter page.
It will now release sometime in Q2 of 2024, when it was originally expected this year. Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes will be available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox. It’s also expected to release on the Xbox Game Pass.
For now, fans will have to be satisfied with the prequel game Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, which launched in May 2022. You can revisit the TGS trailer for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes on the Xbox YouTube channel:
The devs remained fairly vague in today’s update, simply citing that the game was delayed “in order to ensure the best possible story”, and to provide “the best game experience possible”.
This suggests that the changes could be larger than expected. Many devs delay their game because they need for more time to polish things up, but that’s generally on the technical side of things. Altering the story could demand some pretty drastic updates. The devs didn’t mention when fans should expect more news, let alone a concrete release date.
While some fans are undoubtedly disappointed, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is an ambitious new game, and there may be a lot of narrative ends to tie up. Besides, it has gorgeous and dramatic imagery that makes full use of the 2.5D settings, as well as catchy music.
Ultimately, this game feels like a genuine passion project, and Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising has maintained a lot of positive feedback. There’s a loyal fanbase, and they will surely appreciate a smoother launch, as well as a more satisfying story.
