Warner Bros. Discovery will likely remove all titles published under the Adult Swim Games label from digital storefronts. They have also refused to transfer publishing rights to the developers, meaning there’s no saving their games. This decision has disappointed many developers and fans.
One of the first announcements came from indie developer Fire Face Corporation (thanks Delisted Games), which stated that Warner Bros. Discovery would delist their game, Small Radios Big Televisions. Other developers have since confirmed receiving similar notices, pointing to a widespread delisting of Adult Swim Games titles.
The reason behind this decision is unclear, as Warner Bros. Discovery has not provided an official statement. There is speculation that it could be part of the company’s ongoing cost-cutting measures. This impact is significant, as affected games will no longer be available for purchase on platforms like Steam, PlayStation Store, and others. It’s something we’ve all seen coming because of the poor state of some Warner Bros. games like Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.
What’s even more heartbreaking is that developers are said to be unable to regain the publishing rights to their own games. This stops them from finding other ways to keep their titles available. Warner Bros. has every right to do so, but it’s strange to watch a developer say they have no power to keep their game alive.
There’s really nothing that anyone can do. I don’t think this is where it will end because Warner Bros. seems to be adamant about staying on the path they’ve taken. At this point, if they go down further, it’s their own fault for not changing plans.
