Publisher and developer Frictional Games, has revealed that the release of the latest entry in the Amnesia franchise has been delayed once again.
Amnesia: The Bunker, an upcoming first-person horror game set in a desolate WW1 Bunker, was first revealed in December 2022. It was initially scheduled to be released in March 2023 but was eventually postponed to May 23rd. However, Frictional Games recently revealed that due to unforeseen certification issues, the launch of Amnesia: The Bunker has been pushed back another two weeks to June 6th.
Frictional Games published the following statement on their official Twitter account:
The release of Amnesia: The Bunker has been delayed by two weeks due to unforeseen certification issues. This decision is crucial to ensure we do not ship the game with these issues.
The extra time will allow us to rectify the problem and ensure the best possible gameplay experience upon release.
We thank you for your understanding and patience. Amnesia: The Bunker will be available on Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, PlayStation, and Xbox on June 6.
Fredrik Olsson, the Creative Lead for Amnesia: The Bunker, also spoke on behalf of the Frictional Games team and explained that while the game is finally ready to be distributed, certain rare crashes, in addition to the certification issues, have been identified. Despite having the option of working weekends or nights to meet the May 23rd deadline, Frictional Games has opted to prioritize their developers’ health by delaying the release.
It is not the first time that Amnesia: The Bunker’s launch has been pushed back, but thankfully fans have continued to be understanding and are still eagerly anticipating the game’s release. Fans have also commended Frictional Games for prioritizing their employee’s well-being and ensuring the delivery of a quality game.
In Amnesia: The Bunker, players take on the role of a French soldier named Henri Clément, left alone in a haunted WW1 bunker. The game’s mechanics require players to adapt their play style to survive the ever-present threat in the bunker, using tools and weapons at their disposal to navigate the dangerous environment.
For those who want to check out Amnesia: The Bunker‘s features ahead of its official launch in June, a free demo of the game will be available on Steam on May 22nd.
