Amnesia: The Bunker, the next anticipated title in the classic survival horror series from developer and publisher Frictional Games, has just released another trailer today. It features a clearer look at a full scene of gameplay, including some tense exploration and the shadowy glimpse of a monster. Here’s the full trailer from Amnesia: The Bunker’s official YouTube channel:

Earlier this month, Frictional Games announced that Amnesia: The Bunker would be delayed until May following a series of illnesses on the team. So, it’s a welcome surprise to see some new footage put together, continuing to keep the marketing stride after such a challenging and unfortunate delay.

The devs wisely chose to keep their big jump scare at the end of the trailer relatively hidden. After all, the mystery of the enemy is going to play a large role in the suspense of the game. That’s especially true for games with an open world, which is a highly anticipated new approach for the franchise.

So, although today’s trailer wasn’t especially juicy, it was still a clean-cut look at gameplay without the editing of a traditional teaser.

Fans were widely reminded of Amnesia: The Dark Descent, the hit that first launched over a decade ago in 2010. So, longtime players should be very pleased with the nostalgic pacing, sounds, and general atmosphere. It’s always satisfying when a series can acknowledge its previous installments without compromising the new lore and gameplay.

Amnesia has consistently found new ways to elaborate on the mechanics that made it so successful. Amnesia: The Bunker revealed quite a few new sound effects, including the voice of the monster, which is a creepy blend of creativity and simplicity. There’s a lot of Jaws in this, and that’s always a good thing.
