Anno 1800, Ubisoft’s acclaimed city builder set during a burgeoning Industrial Age, has just released a new trailer announcing that it will finally reach consoles on March 16th, 2023. Anno 1800 will be available on PlayStation or Xbox’s next-gen consoles. Here is today’s big reveal trailer from publisher Ubisoft:
If any city builder deserved a next-gen release, it’s Anno 1800, which remains one of the most scenic and satisfying games in the genre. There were some shenanigans on Steam, where Anno 1800 left and returned, causing a stir among those who pre-ordered the game and expected their DLC. But the content itself was still enough for the game to be successful.
Still, it might be a little ironic that the console editions promise lots of bonus content for “Early Adopters”. As of today, Early Adopters will have until April 16th, 2023, to claim their bonus content. There’ll be the traditional and light in-game content, as well as a Digital Artbook and OST for the Console Founder Pack.
These are pretty obligatory additions, but the artbook for Anno 1800 would be especially interesting. Its lush visuals will absolutely benefit from next-gen console technology, and according to an official blog post today, the devs added some improvements to smooth over the port, such as redesigning the UI.
There will be plenty of content carryover from the PC version, including multiplayer that supports over a dozen players. Also, the console port will include all of the game’s major updates since launch. Last year’s season 4 DLC pass largely turned out to be a hit, so there’s still a fanbase after all these years. Hopefully, there’ll be a Nintendo Switch port sometime soon.
