Apex Legends, Respawn’s popular battle royale, has announced that players will be allowed to vote on which Limited Time Mode will be featured during the first in-game event for the new season “Arsenal”.
The community will have until May 8th to submit their vote for Control, Team Deathmatch, or Gun Run. The results will be revealed on May 18th, 2023, where fans can tune in to “the Apex Legends channels”, which likely includes basics like the official Twitch channel. Here’s the new Arsenal announcement from the Apex Legends Twitter feed:
EA and Respawn have been under a lot of scrutiny lately, following eSports negotiations over revenue sharing this week. Despite the prospect of a new season and the upcoming legend Ballistic, who was teased in a new character trailer, the fans have been talking about little else.
So, it’s a little surprising that Respawn has decided to include the community in some way, which is quite rare. It is certainly a nice gesture, since there are very few Limited Time Modes in Apex Legends, and they all have very different balancing. They have retained many of the same issues they were introduced with, but Mixtape still offered more real content than any other addition since launch.
There are a variety of other Limited Time Modes that would have been fun to include, and it didn’t necessarily have to borrow from holiday-themed events like Winter Express. Grand Soiree suggested a lot of strange, experimental modes like Always Be Closing and third-person gameplay.
But it’s clear that the top three modes were already comfortably in place, and they may vibe better with the upcoming in-game event. Hopefully, they’ll each get some new maps soon, since the rotations do become pretty redundant.
