Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale-hero shooter game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts (EA). In this game, players choose from a lineup of outlaws, soldiers, misfits, and misanthropes, each with their own skills, to battle it out in Apex’s multiple different game modes. As part of their soft launch, they released Apex Legends Mobile to 10 countries: Australia, Argentina, Colombia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Philippines, and Singapore.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or want to see what Apex Legends Mobile offers, this guide will take you through the tutorial, the basics of the mobile game, and its features.
Apex Legends Mobile Beginner’s Guide
Once you’ve signed up, you’re ready to begin the tutorial. Similar to the regular version of the Apex Legends tutorial, you will jump from the shuttle and onto the map. From there, the tutorial will take you through different stages to learn more about your controls.
You will find the move toggle positioned on the left of the screen. You don’t have to press precisely on the toggle to move. As long as you press the general area of the toggle, you will be about to move around.
Your camera movement toggle is to the right of the screen. This section is pickier as the right side has your ultimate, shooting buttons, and more. So, moving your camera can sometimes result in misfires if you adjust your camera too close to those controls.
Supply Bins

Once you approach the Supply Bins, you can click on the icon to open them. Inside, you will find guns, ammo, shields, and more.
One problem, however, is that the text and other information are pretty small. So, reading the item’s names or subtitles can be pretty tricky. If you’re a beginner and do not know what any of these items are, it makes the game more challenging — especially in the heat of the moment.
Sliding Guide
To slide, push your toggle forward to sprint and tap the crouch button. To stop sliding, re-tap the crouch button. One thing to note is that the crouch button is relatively small. You must be precise when pressing it to slide, or you could accidentally reload your gun instead.

Climbing Guide
To climb, move towards an object and press the climb button. This button is also a tiny one, and it’s located near your firing and aiming controls. So, make sure you’re pressing the right button when trying to climb!

Med Kits Guide
In Apex Legends, you have access to:
- Shield Batteries: These can restore shields.
- Med Kits: Med Kits can restore health.
- Phoenix Kits: Can restore both shields and health.

There is a small button next to your health bar that you must select to use your shield. Above that is an arrow. If you click on that arrow, you will see your med kit items, and you can switch between them depending on what you need.
Perspective Guide
In Apex Legends Mobile, you can switch your camera controls from First-Person Shooter (FPP) or Third-Person Shooter (TPP). This is entirely up to you and your preferences.

However, when playing match-made games, you will only play against people with the same perspective as you. You can change this at any time on the Battle Mode screen.
Ultimate Ability Guide
Your Ultimate Ability depends on the Legend that you’ve chosen. For example, if you’re playing as Bloodhound, using your Ultimate Ability increases your senses, allowing you to move faster and highlight your prey.

To learn more about each of the legends and find one that you will like, you can find full character profiles on the Apex Legends website. As you unlock more champions, test them out in the Free Practice Range to get a feel for how they work.
Looting Death Boxes
When a player dies, you can loot their death box. You could loot anything from weapons to med kits to ammo and more. But make sure you’re quick and constantly moving, or else you might be the next one to be killed.

Resurrecting Your Teammates
When it comes time to enter the battlefield, you and your teammates will work together to loot and take down enemy squads. If one of your teammates dies, you can resurrect them. Go to their Death Box (it will show your teammate’s Legend on the box) and take their banner.

Your next job is to find a Respawn Beacon. This is where you can revive your teammates. But again, you also risk being killed if an enemy squad finds you. Be sure to clear the area before resurrecting your teammates.

Your Player Controls Guide
They do not include some information in the tutorial, but this information is necessary if you’re hoping to survive as a beginner.

At the center, you will see your Legend, shield bar, and health bar(in white underneath your shield). The Common (white) Body Shield grants two bars equal to a 50 shield. The Rare (blue) one grants three bars equal to a 75 shield. The Epic (purple) and Legendary (golden) Body Shields both grant four bars equal to a 100 shield.
Body Shields do not reduce damage taken; they increase a character’s total health pool.
Above your health area is your weapons area. You can see what type of weapons you have equipped, how much ammo you have, and any weapon upgrades. The Left Weapon is your default weapon. But if you want to toggle to the Right Weapon, all you need to do is click on it.
The tutorial goes over the Med Kit Consumables, which are located under the right arrow toggle. You will also find your med kits, phoenix kits, and any other consumables that will help keep you alive in this area.
However, you will find your arc stars, frags, and grenades under the left arrow toggle. You can also switch between which of the three you’d like on your central console.
To the very left, you will see your backpack. Opening this up will reveal your items, and you can discard any of them from this section.
Map Guide
In the top left-hand corner, you will find a small square map. Once you’ve clicked on it, a larger area map will open. You can see the surrounding area and buildings, ping a site, or delete a ping with this open. When you’re playing with a team, you can also see their icon arrows — which is helpful if you get separated.

Apex Legends Mobile Overview
Once you’ve completed the tutorial and chosen your username, you’ll find yourself on the app’s home screen. At first, it can be daunting, but it’s straightforward to navigate once you learn where everything is.

The key areas include:
- Top Left Corner: Player Profile. This is where you will find your unique I.D., Rank information (which opens at level 8), your stats, and username. You can also see the Perks Path (where you gain champions as your level increases) and your history.
- Top Right Corner: Levels. This is where you can read more on missions and battle passes. Don’t forget to claim your rewards for completing missions!
- Menu Options: Settings, Loadout, Battle Mode, Play, Legends, Club, Store, and More.
- Settings: This is where you can toggle on or off basic, game, display, sound, sensitivity, control, pickup, and language settings.
- Loadout: This is where you can see your weapons, skins, attachments, and compare weapons.
- Battle Mode: This is where you can choose Battle Royal, Multiplayer, Tutorial Level, Free Practice, and Ranked Matches (when available). You can also toggle between FPP and TPP here as well.
- Legends: This is where you can see which Legends you have unlocked and all the information about them.
- Club: This feature is locked until you reach level 8. But this feature is for social groups that let players squad up together without adding strangers to your friends’ list.
- Store: The store is where you can purchase Syndicate Gold, Boosters, Tokens, Crafting items, packs, Crates, Legends, and more.
- More: In this section, you have your mailbox, leaderboards, warehouse, and feedback capability.
As you play Apex Legends Mobile, the controls, toggles, and camera adjustments become easier to use. If you are struggling, take advantage of the Free Practice Range. Here, you can practice aiming, moving, reloading, and firing. All of which require a bit of practice to get better.
