Apex Legends Mobile will be launching its next season “Distortion” on July 12th, 2022, and the official patch notes have just revealed some key changes and content.

Here’s the official announcement from Apex Legends Mobile’s Twitter feed:

It seems that the core game is doomed to be inferior to its mobile counterpart, which is receiving more actual content than the original ever has.

The new legend Rhapsody has gotten some more backstory. Her home Kómma is controlled by the evil corporation Pythas, which fired her mother and threw her family into the dangerous “Neon Dunes” area.

Rhapsody’s main kit is revealed, including the help of Rowdy, a robotic dog-looking companion. Rhapsody will have six progression perks, such as Rowdy’s Rhythm, which helps teammates reload faster.

Classic King’s Canyon will return, complete with the most popular LZ of all time, Skull Town. KC will also be joined by Rhapsody’s town takeover, which seems very similar to Mirage’s party boat.

Players have the chance to grab a “VIP Pass” aboard the ship. You can earn posters of Rhapsody by completing specific challenges. Also, Clubs will be able to compete against other randomized Clubs for rewards.

Lastly, the new season will put Arenas on the backburner to bring forth two brand-new game modes, Gun Game and Hack. The move has definitely upset fans of the core game, which has only featured Control Mode for ages.

Gun Game will basically work the same as it has in other shooters, while Hack is a team-based mode of literal hackers and defenders. Hackers can trigger the Satellite to “fry their enemies to a crisp”.

Gameplay updates and changes

Fans will now get real-time leaderboards, and rank standings in the middle of a match. The ratio between Kills and Assists has also been adjusted.

There’ll be a host of new cosmetics, as per usual. But there were also some quality-of-life changes, such as removing collision between teammates. With so many final zones, every square foot matters, so this should make a big difference.

The Spitfire will undergo a massive overhaul, after being removed from the care package with the Volt. Most importantly, weapons just received the greatest buff of all. Players can now customize their crosshairs, allowing maximum comfort.
