Apex Legends, the battle royale Titanfall spin-off from Respawn, has finally revealed actual gameplay for its upcoming season “Arsenal”. Slated to roll out on May 9th, 2023, Arsenal will introduce the brand-new legend Ballistic, major World’s Edge map changes and more.

You can watch the full gameplay trailer, which was first teased last week in a story-driven cinematic, on the Apex Legends YouTube channel:

The first highlight is a brief glimpse of the highly anticipated changes to World’s Edge. The Fragments, everyone’s favorite LZ for immediate chaos and dismissing RP, now has touches of nature that call Olympus to mind. Although, it still hardly resembles Capitol City’s clustered layout of ziplines and construction.

Then there’s the Apex Legends Museum. Fans who tuned in ahead of time got a neat little cinematic as various legends reacted to the exhibits, including both familiar voice lines and some fresh ones from Ballistic. The museum adds a lot of fun, in-game lore, but the layout isn’t especially novel, as seen in today’s gameplay trailer.

The Battle Pass is hardly worth mentioning anymore. A few cosmetics were showcased today, with some disappointing outfits and a few neat emotes. The noteworthy additions are surely the Firing Range improvements, Weapon Mastery for more rewards and activity, and Ballistic himself.

Ballistic did get a lot of coverage in last week’s teaser. But it’s a little surprising that Ballistic didn’t show off more of his abilities, aside from that smart pistol, in today’s gameplay. The Wraith showdown is amusing, since his pick rate should hardly compare to Wraith.

Most of the trailer is somewhat vague, but the patch notes will include key details. As long as the devs continue to push actual content like LTMs and interesting map changes, the new season should be worthwhile.
