Developer Respawn Entertainment has just released a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming Season 16, titled Revelry. This closely follows Monday’s cinematic trailer and dev diary video, which include some of the most massive changes to the game yet.
Team Deathmatch will be added, Arenas mode will be removed, a Mixtape mode full of LTMs will be introduced, and more. The new season Revelry is scheduled to roll out on February 14th, 2023. You can watch the full Revelry gameplay trailer on Apex Legends’ official YouTube channel here:
It’s pretty clear that Apex Legends is going to deliver a drastic course correction. With so many upcoming changes, today’s trailer was packed with details, especially when most rely on a glimpse at some new cosmetics with familiar in-game voice lines. Today, the Anniversary cosmetics actually took a backseat.
Today’s trailer mostly elaborated on Team Deathmatch and the new class system. The TDM maps will include Skull Town, Party Crasher and Habitat 4, which may ease the pain of those who actually committed to mastering the latter two in Arenas.
Habitat 4 is large and offers a variety of cover, making it ideal for 6v6 combat, but it remains to be seen if the other two can handle larger teams. Hopefully, there will be original, dedicated maps for the mode later on if it proves to be successful.
The new classes make a lot of sense, and should make it easier for newcomers to quickly understand which role they would be interested in playing. Ideally, the devs will give each class the perfect perk to make them equally worthwhile. Buffing support characters with the ability to craft beacons is definitely going to make a difference.
