How to Obtain Metal and Metal Ingots in Ark Survival Ascended
In Ark Survival Ascended, metal is a resource that you’ll need to mine from specific rocks. These rocks are easy to identify as they appear to have silver streaks on them. The best location to find these metal veins is in The Grand Hills, located way to the north of the map.
How to Mine Metal
To mine metal in Ark Survival Ascended, you’ll need a stone pick. Simply find a metal vein and start whacking away. However, be prepared for a low drop rate. It might take you several attempts and multiple rocks to gather enough metal for your needs.
How to Refine Metal into Metal Ingots
Once you’ve collected at least two pieces of metal, you can refine them into metal ingots. To do this, you’ll need a Refining Forge, with it at Engram Tier 20. The forge itself can be crafted after you’ve placed a Campfire and have gathered 40 Fiber, 65 Hide, 20 Wood, 5 Flint, and 125 Stone.
After crafting and placing the Refining Forge, add fuel to its inventory, such as Sparkpowder or wood. Place the metal in the same inventory slot as the fuel. After some time, you’ll see metal ingots appearing in the forge.
How to Craft a Metal Pick
With your first metal ingot, 10 Hide, and one piece of wood, you can craft a Metal Pick at Engram Tier 20. This tool will significantly increase the amount of metal you get from each metal-rich rock.
