Kevin Conroy voiced Batman for many video games like the Arkham trilogy, animated movies, and the cartoon show that started its own multiverse on TV. His most notable work in the Arkham Trilogy seems to have a dedication just for the actor. While short and possibly missible, it is a good way of remembering the actor.
As spotted by a Twitter user, if you finish Arkham Asylum on Nintendo Switch, you’ll get a black-and-white visualization of Arkham Asylum with the text “In Memory of Kevin Conroy” in yellow. This comes after the death of the famous voice actor. After battling cancer for a short period, Conroy passed away in November 2022 at age 66.
A lot of us grew up on the Animated Batman show, which sparked a Superman show and even a Justice League series. To so many of us, Conroy IS the voice of Batman, and that same mentality is on gamers today since Conroy and Mark Hamill voice Batman and Joker, respectively. Not hearing his voice anymore will be a big hit, but there definitely should be patches and updates to honor Conroy in the other Arkham games.
He captured the voice of Batman so well, but while this is too small a gesture in my opinion, it’s something. Hopefully, the Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League game also has something to honor Conroy. That game is the last he appears in, and there should be some way to honor the person who brought life to the character for so long. This, unfortunately, means that Injustice 3 will not have Batman’s iconic voice.
Either way, even with the Switch port having issues with Arkham, it’s good to see that Conroy is getting a form of remembrance.
