Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon, the next sequel in the classic mecha series developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco, has revealed a new official story trailer. It is purely cinematic, featuring an action-packed mission.
Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon is slated to launch on August 25th, 2023, and pre-orders are available now. It will be available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. You can watch today’s new story trailer on the Bandai Namco YouTube channel:
Lore isn’t necessarily a big draw in the Armored Core series, but it does help when extensive combat is driven by a healthy degree of motivation and characterization.
It’s a shame that today’s story trailer mostly concentrates on a single mission. It isn’t especially indistinguishable from the recent gameplay trailer, though you do get an idea of Handler Walter and their attitude. It would’ve been nice to meet a wide cast of characters and enemies.
However, the action itself is well-staged, capturing the spirit of the series with inventive direction and fast-paced movement. The visuals and general art design are also more gorgeous than ever, with incredible graphics and stark cinematography, which unexpectedly reinforce a sense of consequence.
Today’s trailer will likely please most fans of the franchise. And it does set up some minor conflict, where players might avenge “617 and the others”.
But there aren’t any real surprises, since most of these weapons and ideas were already revealed. So, this is more of an appetizer for existing fans as they wait for launch. Since Armored Core VI releases next month, it’s likely Bandai Namco will reveal at least one more trailer.
