Ubisoft will release Assassin’s Creed Mirage for iOS on June 6th, marking the first time a full Assassin’s Creed game is available on mobile. There have been some similar games on mobile that tell a separate story, but never a fully fledged game. The game will require an iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, or an iPad Air or iPad Pro with an M1 chip or later.

Ubisoft released Mirage for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles in the fall of 2023. The game has made its way to iOS, but some adjustments may be needed to make it work well on mobile devices. For new players, Ubisoft is providing a 90-minute free trial before requiring a purchase for the full game.

From what I see, there may have been a graphical downgrade, and there are buttons on the screen for players to press. While it was claimed to be made for the original games, it didn’t hit the mark at all. Mirage didn’t do so well on consoles and PCs when it came to likability; maybe this kind of game belongs in the mobile market (thanks, Eurogamer).

For those who haven’t played, the game is set in 9th-century Baghdad. It follows Basim, a street thief navigating the complexities of the Hidden Ones, an ancient order of assassins. Compared to its recent predecessors like Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla, Mirage was a more compact and focused entry in the long-running series. Its basic nature makes it a good candidate to test the waters for how well a core Assassin’s Creed experience translates to mobile devices.

The success of Assassin’s Creed Mirage on iOS could have a big impact on the franchise. It could lead to more Assassin’s Creed games coming to mobile or inspire releases on both console/PC and mobile platforms. Ubisoft will likely be watching player feedback, as the mobile version’s performance will show how future titles might be designed for handheld devices.
