Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the upcoming addition to the iconic franchise from Ubisoft, and we finally get a look at how it plays on the Steam Deck. A YouTuber uploaded a video that was then posted to Reddit on the game on Steam Deck and the beginning part of the game, with some gameplay, is clearly seen on screen.

We have to say that Assassin’s Creed Mirage definitely looks like a mix between the original Assassin’s Creed games and the newer games. The parkour still isn’t as good as where Assassin’s Creed 3 had it, but it’s better than the clunky way you’d move around in Valhalla. Overall, it’s still pretty slow, and we think that all assassins in the series before Assassin’s Creed: Origins would be able to outrun Basim, especially Conner and his father.

The Reddit post shown below demonstrates the new capabilities of the master thief Basim, as well as a day-night cycle. There are the social stealth elements that were prevalent in the original games have returned, and a minigame for stealing from people has arrived. The gameplay ends by showing the castle from the original Assassin’s Creed being built. Keep in mind that this is just a preview of what will come on release day, so things may change.

You can see from the numbers on top of the screen that the Steam Deck itself is playing the game flawlessly. Due to the fact that this is an Ubisoft game, it can only be accessed through the Ubisoft Launcher, which many commenters pointed out as a downside.

The uploader made sure to show off the settings available to players, and a map that looks really good compared to previous maps. Unlike Valhalla’s cluttered map with random things to do, this one is very clean and displays the details of maps from the era. During the pitch-black scenes, we also saw that this was recorded on a phone.

There aren’t many spoilers in the video, so if you’re interested, you should watch it on YouTube.
