Atlus Prohibits Video Recording And Livestreaming Of Persona 5 Royal Until Global Launch

Atlus has made its livestream and media distribution regulations known to users before Persona 5 Royal launches.

There are just a few days left until the release of Persona 5 Royal. Meanwhile, Atlus has issued a memorandum addressing anyone who intends to live-stream the game or produce a preview for it. The guidelines are published on the official website of Atlus.

The guidelines that Atlus has implemented for Persona 5 Royal are clear and exact, much like the rules that they have implemented for their earlier games. The first part of this guide, titled “Streaming Guidelines,” discusses the need of including a “spoiler warning” in the titles or descriptions of uploaded videos so that players may take in the narrative at their leisure.

As a general rule, streamers would not be able to broadcast the game until it has been officially launched on Steam on October 21. In addition, it is completely forbidden to post any audio tracks that are featured in the game Persona 5 Royal. Streamers are prohibited from broadcasting the game’s conclusion on their platforms (from December 12th to the ending.) Furthermore, Atlus will only allow distribution and streaming if the proper copyright is placed. ©ATLUS ©SEGA must be set. If the © mark is unusable, “(C)” can be used instead.

The second section of the guideline is about the Additional Information. This entails the Persona 5 Royal Release Times as well as any special measures that need to be taken. The following is a rundown of the release schedules for Persona 5 Royal:

  • Japan: September 20, 2022 (Thu) 00:00 AM JST
  • North America: September 20, 2022 (Fri) 00:00 AM ET
  • EU/EMEA: September 21, 2022 (Fri) 05:00 AM UTC

There are also specific precautions included at the end of the guidelines. The aforementioned regulations that were established by Atlus are made even more stringent as a result of these measures. In one precaution, Atlus said that streamers should not be allowed to demand payment from viewers to access their material. Should Atlus ever make direct contact with the livestream, the streamer will be prompted to remove the video from their channel immediately. Lastly, Atlus cannot guarantee that publishing or recording a video would not violate any other people’s or companies’ copyright.

Although these guidelines on Persona 5 Royal may seem to be too restrictive, Atlus’s primary goal is to avoid unnecessary spoilers from being shared with those who have shown no interest in seeing them.
