Atomic Heart, developer Mundfish’s upcoming action RPG filled with blood and robots, has just revealed a live-action trailer featuring Supernatural star Jensen Ackles. Atomic Heart launches on February 21st, 2023. It will be available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
The amusing new teaser does include some gameplay, too. You can watch the full trailer on publisher Focus Entertainment’s official YouTube channel here:
Well, Atomic Heart continues to boast one of the most creative marketing campaigns for any title period. Recently, the devs have released a couple of trailers that use vintage animation that may remind you of old school propaganda videos. They aren’t just charming and funny, but pretty clever. Here’s the first trailer of that kind, from the official Atomic Heart channel:
There was also a strange, environment-driven trailer that focused on presenting the Atomic Heart world in a completely unique fashion. Fueled by mesmerizing synth music, it intentionally abandoned the notion of relying on gameplay alone. Here’s that full trailer, too:
None of these trailers are anything alike. Since the game already sells itself, offering intriguing art design and mechanics, Atomic Heart basically had the freedom to build hype in fresh ways.
Today’s live-action approach was a definite win, and including Jensen Ackles couldn’t have been more of a perfect fit. Ackles has always been naturally funny, and he manages to blend both everyman and heroic qualities. Atomic Heart has the same kind of formula in all of its gameplay previews, looking to balance gritty action with a sly grin.
It also happens to unmistakably poke fun at the Wizarding World. It was surely a surprise, but it could get a chuckle out of anyone, even ongoing fans.
