BAFTA Announces Game Awards Nominations; Baldur’s Gate 3 Leads The Pack

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has revealed the nominations for the 20th BAFTA Games Awards. The prestigious ceremony, which celebrates excellence in the video game industry, will be held at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London on April 11th, 2024.

Leading the pack this year is Larian Studios’ RPG title Baldur’s Gate 3, which secured a total of 10 nominations across various categories, including the top honor of Best Game. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 follows closely with nine nominations, while Alan Wake 2 from Remedy Entertainment garnered eight nominations. The live stream will be available on BAFTA’s YouTubeTwitch, and X (formerly Twitter) channels.

BAFTA Highlights

Other notable contenders include The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, each with six nominations. These titles are recognized in key categories such as Best Game, Narrative, and Music. The EE Players’ Choice Award, the only public-voted award, is now open for voting. The nominees for this category are Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Fortnite, Lethal Company, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

BAFTA is also seeking new members to join its global network, particularly individuals from underrepresented groups within the games industry and those outside London. The BAFTA Games Awards ceremony is part of the larger London Games Festival, which takes place from April 9th to 25th, 2024.
