Baldur's Gate 3 for Xbox is getting a lot more discs than you'd think, and that may be an issue shipping-wise.

In a recent tweet, a developer from Larian Studios, the studio behind Baldur’s Gate 3, shared an update on the game’s Xbox Series X|S physical edition. The update covers the number of discs needed for the release and the possibility of a delay in the first wave of shipments.

According to a tweet from the developer, the Xbox retail version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will come with four discs instead of three due to the game’s size, ensuring all content is included in the physical edition. The shipment schedule may experience a slight delay. Based on the developer’s recommendation, the initial wave, set for March 25th, might be pushed to the first week of April. The PC version will still be released first, followed by the Xbox version in waves corresponding to different configurations (SKUs) being ready for shipment.

It is pretty rare when a game needs to come in multiple discs in today’s age. Even rarer is when they reach the four-disc stage. I think the last time I had to deal with those was for Final Fantasy games and The Legend of Dragoon. Personally, I’d rather just play digital games than deal with discs. That’s four that you need to make sure stay in pristine condition, or you can’t play your game.

The tweet also mentions the difficulties of using physical media instead of digital distribution. It doesn’t give any specific details about the potential delay. Still, if you were hoping for an easy time with the Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3, you should be used to disappointments. This version of the game has been nothing but difficult for everyone involved.
