Bandai Namco has just released a “special trailer” for their upcoming Sand Land project, based on the manga from renowned author Akira Toriyama. The new trailer focuses on the franchising plans, where Sand Land will soon be treated with a “visual adaptation, toys, games, and more”.
There’s currently no release window for the Sand Land game or other adaptations. The Sand Land project was first announced back in December, and it has since gotten a gameplay trailer in June.
The game will be available on PC via Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox. You can watch today’s new special trailer on the Bandai Namco YouTube channel:
Akira Toriyama is best known for creating Dragon Ball, which has seen countless adaptations across both television and the gaming industry. Multiplayer fighting game Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 only just added Beast Gohan and some Piccolo variants last May.
So, although today’s trailer doesn’t show any more of the Sand Land game, fans should be pleased to see such ambitious plans to expand the IP into other mediums. The cohesion between these adaptations is much appreciated, as each aim to capture the essence of the source material. All of the previews released thus far look detailed and promising.
Hopefully, today’s “special trailer” is also indicative of an expansive future for Sand Land, where further anime adaptations, collectibles, and games will explore the dense mythology.
The Sand Land game’s official Twitter feed has also been releasing teasers for key characters and vehicles. Last week, a new tweet showed off the Jump-Bot, which offers high leaps and ranged attacks. And responses to the playable demo at San Diego Comic Con were quite positive, so hopefully a release date will be revealed soon.
