Best Dex Weapons in Elden Ring for Late-Game Builds

Dex weapons are some of the most powerful weapons in Elden Ring, but a few stand out among the rest!
Elden Ring Dex Feature

Elden Ring is full of different weapon types and the dexterity-based weapons have been some of the most popular since the game came out. Within the massive open world of the Lands Between, there are plenty of dex options, but there are some that have carved out a name as some of the most powerful weapons in general. This guide will outline which dex weapons you should seek out as you reach the end game in Elden Ring.

Best Dex Weapons in Late-Game Elden Ring

All three of the best dex weapons in Elden Ring are swords in one form or another. Plenty of weapons in any class will differ from swords, but they dominate the meta for now and likely aren’t going anywhere. Each of them has fantastic scaling and a weapon art that separates them from other options within the world. The best part is that two of them can be unlocked nearly instantly and will remain powerful forever.

The Bloodhound’s Fang

Elden Ring Bloodhound Fang

Compared to the other dex weapon entries, the Bloodhound’s Fang has been somewhat overrated since the game launched. Many players seem to be aware of the sheer power that the weapon has, but it is never added in the same conversation as some of the other swords. Despite less of an infamous name, the Fang has some incredible scaling for a quality build, and B scaling for dex along.

On top of that, the Curved Greatsword has 55 blood loss buildup and is one of the best weapon Ashes in the game. Initiating the Ashes of War will cause you to flip backward and uppercut anything in your way for some massive damage. Using the Ashes of War again right after will allow you to dash forward with invisible frames and do another massive slash. In short, this weapon has great evasion and dishes out huge numbers.

The Moonveil Katana

Elden Ring Moonveil Katana

Moonveil has been one of the most talked-about weapons since the launch of Elden Ring, and after numerous patches, the katana is still a top-tier pick. The weapon scales mainly off of intelligence and dexterity, so you’ll need some extra levels if you want to properly wield the katana. Along with the scaling, there is also 50 blood loss buildup, which is a common trend on this list.

What truly separates this katana though is the magic-based Ashes of War abilities. Holding the Ashes button will cause the weapon the be sheathed as the character holds the handle in anticipation. From here, a light or a heavy attack can be chosen to launch a ranged beam at enemies. The heavy version that bolts on the ground is what made the weapon so popular.

The Rivers of Blood Katana

Elden Ring Rivers Of Blood

Once arcane scaling was fixed, the Rivers of Blood instantly became a top-tier weapon in general, not just for dex. Like the Moonveil, this weapon is a katana that has dex scaling, but arcane is what separates the two. With plenty of points spent on a build, this sword can reach around 75 in terms of blood loss buildup.

As is the trend, the unique Ashes of War is also powerful. The ability causes the character to slash in combos, and the combos can be continued three times. Each swing in the combo will use blood based slashes that have more range and cause some serious blood buildup in the process. Melting players and bosses is incredibly fast with this weapon.

Where to Find the Best Dex Weapons in Elden Ring

All three weapons are fairly straightforward when you want to find them. There are no real gimmicks or special keys needed. The Rivers of Blood will take the longest to obtain, but the process is still easy once enough progress is made.

Dex Weapon Locations

  • Bloodhound’s Fang: Defeat Bloodhound Knight Darriwil at the Forlorn Hound Evergaol in southern Limgrave.
  • Moonveil: Defeat the Magma Wyrm in Gael Tunnel, located in western Caelid.
  • Rivers of Blood: Defeat Bloody Finger Okina who is an invader at the Church of Repose in the Mountaintops of the Giants.

Depending on where you are in the game, these fights will vary in difficulty, but it’s part of what makes them late-game weapons to some degree. For more information on Elden Ring and the bosses that populate it, check out the Elden Ring section of our site!
