Brawlhalla has been compromised by some pretty serious sound issues, but the devs just unrolled a thread announcing fixes for both Steam and Android.
Here’s the beginning of the conversation from Brawlhalla’s official Twitter feed:
While sound is crucial to any game to achieve full immersion and entertainment, Brawlhalla is a fighting game and focuses on fun chaos. Android players have suffered completely silent games, which is basically unplayable.
Shortly after promising to look into these issues, the devs have explained the problem and their plans to resolve it. For Steam users, a hotfix will soon be patched in for Katars, Gauntlets, and the infamous reverberation levels.
The audio mixing has been surprisingly unbalanced, as some sound effects recently became unusually quiet. Meanwhile, the reverberation in particular is difficult to withstand if you use headphones.
In fact, many players have been fooled into thinking their headphones are broken. Others have been confused about the changes even being intentional.
Official plan for sound fixes
Brawlhalla devs mention that the Android build which would fix the silence issue hasn’t even been tested yet, so it may not come very soon.
However, that’s because the game will be reworked to use a completely new sound engine. Apparently, the console and PC/Mobile versions used totally different engines before. Now, they’ll both share the same engine, and also receive an upgrade that will give the devs more control.
So, although there will probably be an unfortunate wait time, the sound effects will be both fixed and improved across all platforms. This way, any future changes can be made universally without some of the fanbase left waiting around.
Keep an eye out for Brawlhalla’s feed, because they’ve promised to alert fans as soon as the Android update is available. At the very least, they also promise to continue reviewing feedback from the fans.
