Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II has officially delayed the highly anticipated CDL Moshpit playlist, which was originally intended to launch alongside multiplayer’s first season. Developer Treyarch Studios has cited that “recently discovered issues” will cause a “slight delay”:

Treyarch Studios promptly followed up this announcement by promising to keep an eye on the game’s Trello board with Infinity Ward to resolve other multiplayer issues.

It goes without saying that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II was highly successful on launch, but reviews have been very mixed, largely due to the technical drawbacks of the game. There have already been countless bugs and other issues concerning quality of life, making simple things like Customs a serious headache to deal with.

It’s really a shame for the game to be compromised this way, since Modern Warfare II’s campaign and content have mostly received high praise. But most fan responses have justifiably complained that the game really feels incomplete in its current state.

The upcoming Ranked system was always intended to be inspired by League rules, stressing the ultimate competitive experience. But Ranked Play won’t actually roll out for the game until 2023, with no release window announced yet. According to Treyarch Studios, Ranked Play will include divisions, ratings, rewards, and a leaderboard.

For now, fans were hoping to prepare for the Ranked experience with the CDL Moshpit playlist. An official blog post explains that the Moshpit playlist was going to implement the “League’s standard rules, restrictions, and map rotation” into all of the current game modes. This would make it the only truly competitive way to play Modern Warfare II until next year.

At this time, there has been no word on when CDL Moshpit will arrive after all. While it should be soon, this still marks another setback for a game that has been overwhelmed with technical disappointments. Hopefully, Warzone 2.0 will launch more smoothly today:
