Cities: Skylines, the long-running city builder from developer Colossal Order Ltd. and publisher Paradox Interactive, will officially launch the new Hotels & Retreats DLC on May 23rd, 2023. A new announcement trailer features gorgeous cinematics, and also reveals the Content Creator Packs.

Cities: Skylines originally launched in 2015, but it has been gradually ported and remastered to include all major platforms. As of last February, it supports next-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles. You can watch the full Hotels & Retreats trailer on the Cities: Skylines YouTube channel:

Cities: Skylines has remained one of the most beloved, entertaining, and expansive city builders, consistently evolving with developer support. However, its time is likely coming to an end, since the direct sequel Cities: Skylines II was finally announced at the Paradox Announcement Show in March.

Unless the sequel suffers the same fate as Kerbal Space Program 2, which stumbled at launch, the new city builder is sure to replace the original. So, fans are hoping the Hotels & Retreats DLC will provide a suitable farewell. However, it is also naturally going to be a smaller addition than usual, and a new post on the Steam page calls Hotels & Retreats a “mini-expansion”.

Players will begin with a small hotel chain, and the variety of buildings in today’s trailer already offer up plenty of inspiration. The game could’ve used this tourism trade a while ago, and it does look like the devs enjoyed getting creative with the art design and options, including grounded avenues like conference hotels.

Cities: Skylines continues to thrive, adding content that each feel like a completely new sim game within a game. Also, the next three Content Creator Packs will include Railroads of Japan, Brooklyn & Queens, and Industrial Revolution, which are exciting prospects.
