Ed, the troubled protégé and the bad boy of boxing is set to enter the ring once again in Street Fighter 6 on February 27. Having first appeared in Street Fighter V, Ed has established himself among the fanbase because of his abilities and interesting storyline. We now know him as the Young Commander.
In Street Fighter 6, Ed senses the remnants of Shadaloo making movements in the shadows and discovers their twisted goals, requiring his assistance. He can be found in the World Tour on the subway, where players can increase their bond with him and learn his psycho-powered moves. You can use them in Avatar Battles in the Battle Hub.
Continuing with his design as a high-speed boxer, his attack animations have significantly changed from Street Fighter V. All of his attacks are now being punches, except for his Level 2 Super Art. His simplified inputs have been retained and incorporated into the Modern Controls, while expanded inputs have been created for his Classic Controls.
Ed’s psycho-powered moves, including Psycho Blitz, Psycho Flicker, and Kill Rush, have been upgraded in Street Fighter 6, making him a formidable presence in the game. Additionally, he introduces a new stage, Ruined Lab, as part of the update, which Year 1 Ultimate Pass owners can access. He will be unlocked on February 27, accompanied by his Outfit 2, inspired by his Street Fighter V Story Outfit.
According to a PlayStation Blog post, Ed has three powerful moves in the game. The first one is called Psycho Storm, where he hits opponents with quick punches. Then there’s Psycho Cannon, which might look familiar to Street Fighter V fans. Finally, there’s Psycho Chamber, where he ties up opponents and punches them a lot.
With Ed comes some quality-of-life features, including the ability to switch button displays to PlayStation buttons in the PC version. There is also an Extra Lighting feature in Photo mode. Ed seems like a great addition to the roster, but I’m sure even better fighters will come soon.
