Relic Entertainment recently announced the first major update for Company of Heroes 3, codenamed Operation Sapphire Jackal. The update introduces an array of bug fixes, quality of life improvements, gameplay balance adjustments, and exciting new features and content. The team at Relic has been working diligently on Operation Sapphire Jackal while also addressing top issues through post-launch hot fixes.

Scheduled for release on March 28th, the Operation Sapphire Jackal update brings an array of improvements and new content to Company of Heroes 3. The Relic team will be on standby to address and roll out hot fixes for any major issues that may arise following the update.

New content and systems are being introduced in this update, such as Challenges, allowing players to complete daily and weekly in-game objectives in Multiplayer and Co-op vs A.I. automatch to earn Merit, which can be used to unlock cosmetics for their favorite units. Daily and Weekly Challenges will be updated regularly, providing a fresh and engaging experience.

Cosmetics are also being launched in the in-game store, offering players the ability to customize their armies in both multiplayer and single-player modes. The store features content that can be purchased with either War Bonds or Merit, ensuring a balanced mix of earnable and paid content for all players.

Operation Sapphire Jackal includes hundreds of bug fixes, changes, and improvements, addressing various aspects of the game such as audio, art, animation, UI/UX, and maps. Notable changes include an update to the Unique Player Color option, new voiceover for Gurkha Infantry, audio adjustments for map pings, and more.

In terms of gameplay changes, while not considered a “full” balance pass, several adjustments have been made to shake up multiplayer and co-op. Some of these changes involve US Forces Pathfinders, the Afrikakorps Carro Armato M13/40 tank, and Airplane Loiters. The update also includes numerous updates to tooltips and descriptions for better clarity and information.

Operation Sapphire Jackal marks the beginning of an ongoing commitment to improving and expanding Company of Heroes 3. With new gameplay challenges, unit customization options, and numerous fixes and changes, the developers eagerly await player feedback on this first major update.
