Massive Monster has announced a “Sins of the Flesh” update for their cult management sim, Cult of the Lamb. This update is free on PlayStation 4 and 5 for anyone who owns the game. A blog post promises that this update will be the game’s biggest yet.

The PlayStation Blog revealed that this update was coming on January 16, 2023, and would structure itself around a mechanic known as Sin. There will be a variety of decadent new structures. The Drinkhouse will let followers concoct potent beverages like Brog Brew and Poop Juice. Drinking from these will generate trickles of Sin.

The Drum Circle introduces a rhythm-based minigame, where your performance directly translates to a reward based on Sin. Finally, the Mating Tent allows compatible followers to create new disciples, with each birth yielding a bit of Sin.

The Sin you accumulate can then be spent on powerful new Rituals. The Rite of Lust throws your cultists into a joyous, robe-shedding frenzy, while the Rite of Wrath unleashes a whirlwind of chaos and violence within your base. There is more promised to come in the update, and the post says the update also introduces Sin-based Doctrines and a “troubling new food source” but we’re not sure what that means.

The Sins of the Flesh update is a huge addition to Cult of the Lamb and makes a lot of sense to add in. The game is incredibly popular and now sounds more like a game I’d like to play since it added more things to building a follower base. While it doesn’t sound like this stuff affects the combat or exploration part of the game, we would assume that even more is coming.

The post was clear that this was just a taste of everything that would be introduced so we expect more to come on January 16, 2023.
