During the break last year around Christmas, many players were hopping onto the Steam Next Fest to play Dark and Darker, the Dungeons & Dragons-inspired extraction game. While developer IRONMACE was seemingly in legal trouble a few months ago, it’s now announced that Dark and Darker is ready to enter its Early Access period starting today.
Currently, players will need to download a separate app called ChafGames to launch the game since it is no longer on Steam, with IRONMACE stating in a Discord message that it’s working on its own specific launcher as well. Players can currently find the title on ChafGames in most areas, with Korea being excluded until it can be rated by the gaming oversight board.
There has been little information about the legal battle IRONMACE has faced with Nexon, but it seems that the Dark and Darker developer is hoping to move forward with the launch. However, the situation may be ongoing since neither Steam nor any of the other launchers are hosting the game. Hopefully, IRONMACE will be able to keep hosting the game without any more need to take it offline.
The Early Access version of the game still needs work, with the developer saying the item shop, proximity voice chat, and Korean game support are in development. In the Discord post, IRONMACE encourage players to share feedback so they can continue to grow the game.
