Dead by Daylight, the multiplayer horror hit from Behaviour Interactive, has just released a full cinematic trailer for the Alien collaboration, which is slated to roll out on August 29th, 2023. The trailer features both the terrifying new Killer Xenomorph and Survivor Ellen Ripley.
Dead by Daylight is available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox. You can watch today’s new Alien cinematic trailer on the game’s official YouTube channel:
Dead by Daylight’s highly anticipated crossover with Alien has finally given fans a much clearer look at the new characters coming later this month. And although Ellen Ripley could surely look a bit more accurate, the devs still imply a genuine sense of passion for the IP with today’s trailer. And that goes beyond fan service, which would be simple enough.
The general ambiance of the new trailer is terrific, with the same kind of shadowy claustrophobia for the interiors and majesty of space outside. The cinematic is also very quiet and patient, building tension until small glimpses escalate into some well-staged chasing. There’s even a Xenomorph POV shot, which has become popular despite being so prominent in Alien 3 and Alien Covenant.
Today’s trailer is purely cinematic, so unfortunately, it doesn’t really show off how the characters will actually behave in-game. However, these abilities don’t need to be speculated anymore, because the new official patch notes dive right into the full details.
The Xenomorph will boast Hidden Pursuit and Runner Mode. Ellen Ripley will have the perks Lucky Star, Chemical Trap, and Light Footed. There will also be new Control Stations, which were teased in today’s trailer. Since the Alien collaboration is slated for the end of August, fans can probably expect an actual gameplay trailer fairly soon.
