Dead Island 2 has rolled out its inaugural quality-of-life update aimed at refining the gaming experience. This article will delve into the specifics of the patch notes, detailing the adjustments, fixes, and new features that are part of this update.
Among the exciting additions is the ‘Cosplay’ feature, accessible through the game’s main menu. This feature gives players the ability to change their Slayer character skins, with all skins displayed regardless of immediate availability. Alongside this, Dead Island 2 introduces three skin and weapon collections. These are the premium HELL-A Catwalk Collection, the free ‘Til Dawn’ Collection, and the ‘From Dusk’ Collection, which players can acquire via Amazon Prime Gaming.

The update addresses several gameplay issues, including problems with joining co-op games. An issue marked by the [0x1411] error, which hindered players from joining co-op sessions, has been resolved.
Several geometry issues that caused player characters to get stuck or experience glitches have been fixed. These include players walking through walls in the Halperin Hotel, getting stuck after respawning in Bel Air, and encountering difficulties when interacting with certain objects such as doors and items.

The patch also rectifies issues with NPCs disappearing from the game, and addresses problems specific to the title screen. Previously, players were unable to close the title screen via the “Quit” option when the language was set to Japanese in full-screen mode.

In-game missions have also seen some bug fixes. The “Fool’s Gold” reward issue, where some players failed to receive the Blood Rage weapon after completing the quest, has been addressed. The “Diaries of the Dead” mission-specific issue, where Mutator and Butcher sometimes did not exit their containers, causing a progression block, has also been resolved.
The update brings improvements for co-op sessions, specifically for Clients, the players who join the Host’s co-op session. Fixes have been implemented to address high jumping against flat surfaces, desync issues when zombies are stunned, problems with becoming stuck in vents, enemies not responding correctly to attacks, and missing hazard warnings for Clients.

Performance and stability enhancements are also part of the update. Various game crashes occurring during traveling, loading screens, and respawns during missions have been fixed, contributing to smoother gameplay.
Finally, the update includes other minor fixes, such as improvements for Ultrawide Displays and HDR, enhancements to player animations, and adjustments to improve the dynamic range and clarity of zombies and dialogue during combat.
