Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Sweep the Board is a game made in the Mario Party style but features the anime’s iconic characters. The areas from the show will be the boards you can play, and overall it looks like a party board game.
As revealed in a tweet from SEGA, Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Sweep the Board is coming to Nintendo Switch on April 26, 2024. There is no information on the official website, but we can tell what the gameplay will be from the trailer. It’s almost exactly like Mario Party but has a max of four players per game.
Players take turns rolling dice to move their characters around a board. The board is typically filled with various spaces that trigger different events, such as landing on a space with demons. Landing on a space for demons will trigger an event where all the players attempt to take down the demon. This is done with the controller in different ways depending on the mini-game.
Players will participate in minigames after landing on certain spaces or completing certain events. Minigames look like they’re short, competitive games that test players’ skills in various areas, such as reflexes, coordination, and strategy. It also looks like there may be a way to team up, as I saw some characters walk with others, but that’s not been confirmed.
While it has not been confirmed, I can imagine there will be a currency system similar to the stars and coins seen in Mario Party. After reading the description on the YouTube trailer, it seems like defeating demons is the game’s main objective. There’s no confirmation on how that would work competitively, especially when everyone fights at once, but I imagine whoever does the most damage gets more credit than others.
