The Guardian Games All-Stars 2024 event in Destiny 2 is now underway. It gives players a range of competitions and fresh features, but people love it because of the events. In addition to the classic class rivalry among Warlocks, Hunters, and Titans, the event debuts a new vehicle called the Skimmer.
The Skimmer is a new vehicle type recently added to Destiny 2, providing players with a unique trick-based gameplay experience. Drawing inspiration from skateboarding, snowboarding, and surfing, the Skimmer enables players to execute various tricks and grinds while exploring the game world. It’s what you’d imagine if you thought of a real hoverboard. This includes four base tricks like tre flips and 360 grabs, as well as four grinds like 5-0s and backside darkslides.
The Skimmer is equipped with grounded and air dodges for maneuverability. So it’s not just a cool-looking vehicle; it gives players a cooler jump ability featuring an ollie grab for added style. The kind of thing you haven’t heard since you play Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4.

Obtaining the Skimmer is easy. All players can get it for free by finishing the initial Guardian Games All-Stars quest and depositing their first Medallion. By completing a one-step quest during the event, players can permanently keep the Skimmer even after the Games end. This is a great reason to come back to Destiny 2 because it’s hard to imagine they’ll make more vehicles like this.
Players who dove into the lore would recognize this as the skyboards Cloud Striders used long ago. So, the development team at Bungie made sure it made sense in this universe. According to the PlayStation Blog post, their goal was to offer players a fun and stylish means of movement that differed from the existing Sparrow.
For a limited time, PlayStation Plus members can enjoy the Destiny 2: The Witch Queen expansion for free as part of the monthly games offering. The Guardian Games All-Stars event has introduced a new scoring system with valuable Diamond-tier Medallions and daily glow effects for individual and class achievements. Players can also participate in Focus Activities for limited-time boosts and earn rewards such as the Hullabaloo Grenade Launcher, an Exotic Ghost Shell, and more.
Destiny 2 is really pulling out all the stops for this one. I genuinely hope it pays off.
