Destiny 2 The Witch Queen is all set to kick off a new era of Destiny. Not only does it bring a campaign experience that draws heavily from the best aspects of the game’s high-end activities like raid and dungeons, but it introduces a new unique melee weapon type alongside weapon crafting, all of which are a first for the series.
On its quest to make Destiny 2 more of an RPG outside of its incredible looter shooter elements, Bungie is making essential changes to its three subclasses, starting off with the Void. The Void 3.0 update launches alongside The Witch Queen, and here’s everything you need to know about it.
Introduction of Aspects and Fragments to the Void Subclass

Aspects are class-specific modifiers that grant passive and active abilities associated with that subclass. Fragments are non-class specific perks that buff certain attributes and debuff others to balance things out. First introduced in the Beyond Light expansion for the Stasis subclass, Aspects and Fragments gives you more build options, and it would be interesting to see how it overhauls and modernize every light subclass.
The Witch Queen expansion adds Aspects and Fragments to the Void subclass, which Bungie refers to as the Void 3.0 update. The Aspects and Fragments borrow the elements and abilities available in the diamond system and modify them to add new actions. What it means is that aside from your melee and super, you can now perform two new subclass related actions. For example, as Bungie explained in its 3.0 Void blogpost, Hunters can now dive and slam into the ground, weakening enemies and making their allies invisible for a brief amount of time.
Every Aspect confirmed for Void 3.0

Bungie has detailed all the aspects coming to the Void 3.0 for different classes. As it turns out, every class – Hunter, Titan, Warlock, – will receive three Void subclass aspects when The Witch Queen launches.
The players who play Destiny 2 before The Witch Queen launches will have all the aspects readily available at launch. The newcomers will gain their Aspects through the New Light game experience, which is presumably the modified version of the New Light Destiny 2 tutorial section that introduces new players to various activities of the game. Most Fragments will also be available at the Void 3.0 launch, while some will be available after the World’s first completion of The Witch Queen raid that launches March 5.
Hunter Void Aspects
- Trapper’s Ambush: Player can activate Quickfall to spend their melee charge and dive to the ground, creating a smoke cloud upon impact. Enemies caught in the cloud are weakened and allies become invisible. In addition, Snare Bombs, upon attaching to surfaces or enemies, cause nearby allies to become invisible.
- Vanishing Step: Dodging makes the Hunter invisible.
- Stylish Executioner: Defeating a Void-debuffed target (weakened, suppressed, or volatile) grants invisibility and Truesight. While invisible and after a Stylish Execution, your next melee attack weakens enemies.
Titan Void Aspects
- Controlled Demolition: Hitting a target with a Void ability or volatile detonation will make them volatile.
- Bastion: Casting Barricade generates overshield for yourself and nearby allies. Those bunkering behind the shield will regenerate overshield over time and extend the overshield’s duration.
- Offensive Bulwark: While you have overshield or are inside the Ward of Dawn, grenades charge significantly faster and you have increased melee damage. You also gain an additional shield throw for your Sentinel Shield Super.
Warlock Void Aspects
- Chaos Accelerant: Hold down the grenade button to overcharge your Vortex, Axion Bolt, Scatter, and Magnetic grenades. Magnetic grenades overcharge into Handheld Supernova.
- Feed the Void: Defeat an enemy with a Void ability to activate devour.
- Child of the Old Gods: Cast your Rift to summon a Void Soul. When you damage an enemy with your weapon, your Void Soul will launch itself towards them and detonate nearby, attaching draining tendrils which deal damage and weaken the target. When your Void Soul deals damage, it restores either melee and grenade energy (if running Healing Rift), or health (if running Empowering Rift) back to you. Defeating an enemy who is being drained grants Rift energy.
Every Fragment confirmed so far for Void 3.0
- Echo of Expulsion: Void ability kills cause enemies to explode; Intellect bonus.
- Echo of Provision: Damaging enemies with grenades grants melee energy; Strength penalty.
- Echo of Domineering: After suppressing a target, gain greatly increased Mobility for a short duration and your equipped weapon is reloaded from reserves; Discipline bonus.
- Echo of Undermining: Void grenades weaken enemies; Discipline penalty.
