The forthcoming ‘Season of the Malignant’ for Diablo IV, scheduled for a July 20 release, has been officially announced. While the full details remain under wraps, a recently launched trailer provides an intriguing look into the tone and context of the upcoming season.

A new threat looms in Sanctuary in the ‘Season of the Malignant’. The spread of a corruption variant, spawned by Lilith, has led to the creation of Malignant Monsters, creatures lost to the corruption and behaving erratically. These creatures, embodying the malignant turmoil, become a player’s responsibility to confront and manipulate the twisted power of their corruption.

The season features an array of elements, including a new questline where players collaborate with Cormond, a former priest of the Cathedral of Light. The duo’s mission involves determining the source and halting the malignant spread. Over 30 new Malignant Powers are available for the players to wield by defeating the corrupted enemies and harnessing their Malignant Hearts.

Moreover, the season features a new boss battle where players traverse the Malignant Tunnels to identify and stand against the corruption’s catalyst, Varshan the Consumed. With 6 new unique items and 7 new legendary aspects obtainable throughout the season, players will have additional options for class enhancement.

Completion of the Season Journey chapters yields rewards like new legendary aspects, a mastery title, and a Scroll of Amnesia, offering a free Skill Tree and Paragon Board reset.

Seasonal blessings allow players to use their earned Smoldering Ashes from the Battle Pass to upgrade their seasonal characters with increased XP gains and better chances for rare materials when salvaging items. Other incentives include the “Eldritch Monster” title, clothing, and weapon transmogrifications designed to create a unique character look.

Players opting for premium will unlock further rewards, including Awoken Armor Sets, Mounts & Mount Armor, Platinum, and more across 90 tiers. These include the Coldiron Armor Set, crafted specifically for resistance against the malignant spread, and two versions of the new Warded Mustang mount.
