Gameloft Montreal, the studio that created Disney Dreamlight Valley, has revealed its new project: a Dungeons & Dragons game for PC and gaming consoles. It’s an unexpected collaboration, as Dungeons & Dragons tend to be more for fighting and action rather than life sims. The collaboration is with Wizards of the Coast, a division of Hasbro.
The upcoming title blends survival, action RPG, and life simulation in the Forgotten Realms setting of the D&D universe. The game will be focused on resource management, character development, and exploration. It does not sound like it’s targeting the hardcore Dungeons & Dragons fanbase. It sounds like a way to get more people interested in the game outside conventional means.
Cooperative play is a major focus for Gameloft Montreal. The studio is focused on the collaboration and storytelling part of Dungeons & Dragons. They emphasize a campaign focused on themes of teamwork, overcoming challenges, and the ever-present danger.
“We are honored to partner with Wizards of the Coast to deliver a completely new experience in the Dungeons & Dragons® universe. We are all big fans of D&D and are already hard at work bringing our concept to life, including growing our team, and we look forward to sharing more details in the future.”

Gameloft Montreal is known for games like Disney Dreamlight Valley and LEGO Star Wars Castaways. So you can guess the kind of game that’s coming from the press release and previous experience from the studio. I am expecting a family-friendly version of Dungeons & Dragons that is more focused on chores and life sim than it is an adventure RPG.
