Dragon Ball fans have no doubt kept their eyes on Sand Land, the open-world action RPG from ILCA, Inc., and the mind of Akira Toriyama, creator of Dragon Ball. While it may look like all you do is explore a vast, hostile landscape, there’s a lot to building and customizing your own fleet of vehicles to conquer challenges.

As revealed in a post by PlayStation, players take on the role of Beelzebub, leader of a ragtag band of misfits. It’s their mission to find the legendary hidden spring, facing bandits, ferocious beasts, and even the Royal Army along the way. To survive, they’ll need a diverse arsenal of vehicles, each customizable with hundreds of parts and weapons.

Hovercars are one type of vehicle used; they offer nimble traversal across treacherous terrain and wetlands, with the option to boost and float over obstacles. The Hovertank packs long-range weaponry for heavy firepower, though mastering its floating aim might take some practice. With those comes a few more options for firepower, but it’s not all brawn. Players can equip special Option weapons like the Neutron Cannon for decimating groups or the Autonomous C-Drone for crowd control and tactical maneuvering.

Then comes the insane variety that players can add in. Sand Land boasts hundreds of parts to tweak your vehicles, from engines and suspensions to main and secondary weapons. Beyond performance, players also get to mess with the extensive cosmetic options. By visiting the paint shop in Spino, the game’s central hub, players get to deck out their vehicles with many colors and decals.

If you pre-order, you can even get the exclusive Midnight Panther and Jungle Heart skins for your vehicle. Otherwise, treasure chests hidden within dungeons offer powerful, unique components to personalize your ride further. It’s a lot of detail for vehicles, which is mostly ignored in Dragon Quest and Dragon Ball games. It’s pretty cool to see how unique Toriyama can make these.
