Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle has a tradition of fun April Fools’ Day pranks, and this year’s prank is funny, but it is a good idea overall. The game’s official Twitter account shared a video introducing a pretend new game mode called “Dokkan City.” In the lighthearted announcement, the developers said they would bring a city-building experience to the Dragon Ball world.

The tweet has a video that provides a detailed look at the features of the fictional mode, including the ability to build roads and buildings to attract residents to a bustling metropolis. Businesses such as restaurants, fighting training areas, helipads, and schools are set to contribute to the city’s growth. In addition to city development, players will also have to ensure city safety by deploying police forces and assigning bodyguards to boost defense levels. The bodyguards include recognizable characters such as Android 18, Saiyaman, and Videl.

The video takes the joke a step further by allowing players to train Mr. Satan (Hercule) to compete against challengers and earn ratings. Additionally, the city features VVIP (very very important people) guests, adding another layer of lighthearted humor. Following the prank tradition of April Fools, the video concludes with a disclaimer stating that “*Event duration and content may change without notice,” showing that it is likely not happening.

The idea of a fictional Dokkan City is honestly pretty good. I love what I saw, and the comments joined in with the fact that this is a good idea. A Dragon Ball-themed city-building simulator would be a very fun game to play on mobile. This would be a shift from Dragon Ball Z’s traditional gameplay because almost all of those games are exclusively fighters. However, I’d like to play a game like this in that universe.

The team behind this is also amazing because this playful prank has a well-produced video. It’s all so interesting to see and it shows that they understand that genre’s fanbase. While Dokkan City is unlikely ever to become a real mode or game, it is fun to see and imagine the idea.
