Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is an open-world action role-playing game based on the Dragon Ball franchise. It was developed by CyberConnect2 and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game follows the main protagonist Goku and the Z-Fighters throughout the events that occur in the Dragon Ball Z anime series. In Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, players may engage in battles in addition to doing other things such as fishing, gathering Z orbs, dining, driving in a hover vehicle, training, and placing characters in soul emblems.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot was first made available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows platforms in January 2020. Subsequently, it was made available for the Nintendo Switch in September 2021, and it was launched for Stadia in October 2021. It is anticipated that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2023.

Recently, Bandai Namco revealed that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on January 12, 2023. The version for the next-generation consoles will also feature improved graphics and will run at 60 frames per second. During a conference call, Bandai Namco shared the news that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot sold more than 1.5 million copies in its first week of sale across the globe, establishing it as a commercial success. In March 2020, the game has sold more than 2 million copies around the globe, considering total shipments and digital sales. As of December 2021, the game has racked up more than 4.5 million sales around the world.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot was also the best-selling game of January 2020 in the United States, and became the third highest-selling game in the Dragon Ball franchise, behind Dragon Ball FighterZ and Dragon Ball Z: Budokai. The game’s debut on next-generation consoles would hopefully encourage more gamers to enjoy it.
