Blizzard as a company has had some struggle in the last couple of years, which have included gender-based discrimination and harassment claims, veteran game director Jeff Kaplan leaving the company, and the poor remake of Warcraft 3 just to name a few. Well, they are likely looking to take their best step forward with the upcoming announcement of the next World of Warcraft expansion. Unfortunately, they’ve experienced a slight stumble with a small leak being found.
While we aren’t far from an official announcement to the next WoW expansion, it looks like the name of the release has been revealed. It appears that it will be named, Dragonflight, according to source code found on the World of Warcraft official website.
Here’s a look at the leaked source code:
Returns true if the ProductID is found or false if not. */ function testProductById() { var listOfProductIds = [ // WoW Dragonflight Base prepurch 303013, // WoW Dragonflight Heroic prepurch 303014, // WoW Dragonflight Epic prepurch 303029 // WoW Dragonflight Upgrade from Base to Heroic // WoW Dragonflight Upgrade from Base to Epic // WoW Dragonflight Upgrade from Heroic to Epic
As with a lot of games these days, you will have a variety of options to choose from if you want to pre-purchase the expansion. The more you pay the more goodies you will receive! You can even upgrade the pack later, if this leak is accurate, to higher grades if you so desire.
To further confirm the leak, it looks like Blizzard has registered web certifications for the dragonflight.blizzard.com URL.
The good news for Activision Blizzard is that this isn’t really much of a leak. The name of the expansion while annoying to have been revealed early is not monumental. There will still be plenty to share on April 19th, when the development team will officially show off what the future of World of Warcraft will be. At the very least, fans can now get excited about the inclusion of some mythical dragons!
