A month has passed since Black Salt Games introduced their fishing game, Dredge, to the world, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. As players continue to explore the treacherous waters of The Marrows, the developers have decided to provide a sneak peek into what’s in store for the rest of the year. The roadmap includes three free updates, along with a paid DLC adventure centered around the enigmatic Ironhaven Corporation.

The first free update, set to roll out in May, will address the much-requested improvements to the in-game map. Players will now have access to map markers, which they can use to pinpoint various locations, such as dangers, shipwrecks, or mysteries. This feature aims to enhance navigation and exploration. Additionally, this update will include several bug fixes and balance adjustments.

The second update will bring two new modes to Dredge, offering players diverse ways to engage with the game. Passive Mode is designed for those seeking a more tranquil experience, as aggressive monsters will no longer attack fishing boats, allowing players to focus on the joys of fishing and soaking in the serene environment.

The second mode in this update, Photo mode, will not simply be a standard menu option. Instead, players will encounter a new in-game character who will assist them in unlocking the camera feature, sharing hints about where to find intriguing marine life to photograph. The mode will integrate with PlayStation’s screenshot sharing capability, so players can easily share their captured images of stunning whales or terrifying deep-sea creatures.

In the third free update, players will have the opportunity to customize their boats with unique paint schemes and flags. As they explore Dredge’s coastlines and bayous, they will unlock new options to give their fishing vessels a personal touch. More details on the second and third updates will be provided later in the year.

Lastly, a paid DLC is in the works, which will delve into the enigmatic Ironhaven Corporation. This organization plans to establish a cutting-edge drilling operation, aiming to breathe new life into the local towns and communities. However, their true intentions remain shrouded in mystery. Players will gather resources to construct new buildings and collect biomatter to fuel the rig while encountering new characters, crafting fresh equipment, and catching previously undiscovered fish species. The DLC will challenge players to uncover the potentially sinister motives behind Ironhaven Corporation’s operations.
