Tencent has been actively expanding its global presence over the years, with notable investments in major game studios such as Riot Games, Epic Games, and Supercell. Acquiring a majority stake in Techland further solidifies Tencent’s position in the industry and showcases the company’s determination to extend its reach even further.
Techland has clarified that, despite the acquisition, the studio will retain complete ownership of its intellectual properties (IPs), maintain creative freedom, and continue to operate independently, adhering to its core principles. Additionally, Pawel Marchewka will continue to serve as the CEO of the studio.
Currently, Techland is hard at work on an ambitious unannounced AAA open world Action-RPG set in a fantastical realm. The success of Dying Light and the impressive sales figures of Dying Light 2 Stay Human have paved the way for this exciting new project. With Tencent’s involvement, fans are eager to witness how this partnership will influence the development of Techland’s current and future projects.
