Everdream Valley, an upcoming friendly farming sim from developer Mooneaters, published by Untold Tales and VARSAV Game Studios, will officially launch on May 30th for PC and current or last-gen PlayStation consoles.
A Nintendo Switch version of Everdream Valley is slated for June 2023, but an exact date has not been confirmed. You can watch today’s new release date trailer, featuring key gameplay, on the Untold Tales YouTube channel:
Everdream Valley has many familiar and obligatory mechanics of the genre, but it does have a few twists and a thoroughly cute art design. To begin with, Everdream Valley will probably win over fans thanks to its emphasis on the animals and critters.
The sheer variety of animals is impressive, and discovering how each one will be interpreted with the game’s positively adorable style should be a real highlight. There seems to be plenty of interaction, and according to the Steam page, there’ll even be a baker’s dozen of dog breeds that can help you out with farming tasks.
Aside from the general, family friendly tone, Everdream Valley includes a wide range of minigames that unlock at night. These are determined by the different kinds of animals on your farm, which will encourage players to roam around the sandbox. Given how many species the game offers, there should be plenty of minigame potential, and it adds just the right amount of magic.
These are the features that should help Everdream Valley distinguish itself from the likes of Animal Crossing. It doesn’t have the hook of something like Paleo Pines, which shares many similarities and recently announced a fall release date. But Everdream Valley does have a strong breadth of content that should make its casual gameplay feel like more of a breezy adventure than simple busy work.
