Fallout 4 fans have been waiting for the promised next-gen update, and the wait is finally over. The update is rolling out today on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, bringing improvements and new content to the post-apocalyptic RPG. Still, it’s sizable, so get ready for a long wait too.

The latest update brings native versions for the newest consoles. Players now have the option to select between Performance mode, aiming for 60 frames per second with 4K resolution, and Quality mode, providing 4K visuals at 30fps (40fps on 120Hz displays). Additionally, PC players will now enjoy widescreen and ultra-widescreen support.

According to a PlayStation Size Tweet, this update is also quite big, with a file size of 56.5 GB on PlayStation 5. However, it’s not entirely unexpected for a major update that offers visual and performance improvements to a vast, open-world game.

The latest update brings technical improvements and introduces new content through the Creation Club. This includes the Enclave Remnants pack, offering the well-known Enclave uniform and new workshop items. Moreover, an “Armor and Weapon bundle” features X-02 Power Armor, Hellfire Power Armor, and powerful weapons like the Tesla Cannon. For fans of spooky themes, the “Halloween Workshop” provides access to new props and costumes. Lastly, the “Makeshift Weapon Pack” lets players create improvised weapons using ordinary objects.

The update is not just about new content; it also includes fixes for ongoing issues and improvements for all platforms. Stability enhancements and bug fixes are promised for all platforms, and PC players can expect updates to the Creation Kit as well as fixes for different quests. As the new content gets added, the game should see a resurgence of players, including myself.
