Final Fantasy XIV’s recent Live Letter From the Producer for Patch 6.2, Buried Memory, revealed a ton of new content coming to the game with the patch, including an expansion on the Duty-Support System.

The Duty Support System, for those who don’t know, is a unique solo-friendly option for taking on the game’s dungeons. Instead of queuing with players, you can now join a dungeon with a host of NPC allies from the game’s story, each one with their own unique dialogue for the environment. Not only does this remove a lot of required multiplayer from the game, but it also creates more of a narrative experience for those looking for it.

Recently, FFXIV added the Duty Support System to all of the dungeons in A Realm Reborn. While this created the opportunity to play the game with a unique solo experience, the NPCS provided were generic adventurers lacking charm.

As part of their promise to allow a solo experience in every dungeon through Shadowbringers, FFXIV is adding the Duty Support System to the Heavensward story dungeon content. This time, however, they are adding Estinein, Ysayle, and Alphinaud as companion NPCs. The opportunity to bring these beloved NPCs as companions into dungeons not only gives players the opportunity to play the game solo, but also gives them the chance to experience new, unique dialogue from each character as they do.

Patch 6.2 will add the Duty Support System to all Heavensward story dungeons, with the same likely coming for Stormblood in patch 6.3.
