Square Enix has officially announced that the much-anticipated Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be released for PlayStation 5 in early 2024. The game will be distributed across two discs, which will give players a taste of the original, which shipped on three discs.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is part of the Final Fantasy VII remake project. It brings a fresh storyline and engaging gameplay, set in the sprawling world of Gaia. The new game follows the journey of protagonist Cloud Strife and his companions as they venture beyond the dystopian confines of Midgar, in pursuit of the avenging swordsman, Sephiroth.

The PlayStation 5 has been leveraged to develop a whole new level of graphical fidelity, which promises to render the expansive world of Gaia with impressive detail. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is sure to captivate players with the mysteries that await the party as they navigate this stunning environment.
In the lead-up to the announcement, Square Enix offered insights into the development process via their official Twitter account. Yoshinori Kitase, the Producer, confirmed that the development of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is on track, with a definitive release date currently under discussion.

Director Naoki Hamaguchi gave a glimpse into the player experience, suggesting a high degree of freedom while traversing the broad and varied world of Gaia. He promised multiple unique narratives that players can explore and experience.
Kazushige Nojima, responsible for the story and scenario, hinted at a series of key narrative developments that will unfold at the heart of the Final Fantasy VII story, providing insight into the destinies of each character.

Addressing potential new players, Co-Director Motomu Toriyama confirmed that even those unfamiliar with the original game would be able to enjoy Final Fantasy VII Rebirth fully, due to the inclusion of relevant preparatory elements.
As for the battle system, Battle Director Teruki Endo mentioned the introduction of new allies for combat, with options to engage in closer cooperation with other party members than before.
Music Supervisor Keiji Kawamori added to the excitement by revealing the creation of many new musical tracks for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, along with some fresh arrangements from the Final Fantasy VII Remake. The addition of these musical elements is sure to add another layer of immersion to the game.
