While we’re two numbered iterations after it, Final Fantasy XIV is still managing to soar to new heights as one of the most popular MMORPGs in the world. Now it has made news once again with the announcement that FFXIV will be making its console debut on the Xbox, starting with a beta at the start.

Today during the Final Fantasy Fan Fest, Xbox head Phil Spencer made a surprise appearance to tease that Final Fantasy XIV would be coming to the console in the near future. This is the first time that the game has been supported on a console and this means that the long-awaited controller support for the title is likely going to release soon.

Another screenshot shared in the replies to the tweet above states that Final Fantasy XIV will be launching for both current-gen versions of the Xbox with faster loading times. The Xbox Series X will support 4K, but will still be playable on the smaller device as well. The official release is scheduled for Spring 2024, but there will be an open beta leading up to it.

It’s likely that this new update to the title will also introduce controller support, which is something that the fan base has been eager to receive for some time. The title is already available on PlayStation, so this release on Microsoft’s console will even the playing field for both systems.
