Final Fantasy XIV has just revealed the newest expansion for the game will be titled Dawntrail, and it is slated to arrive sometime in Summer 2024. While an exact release date has not been confirmed yet, the devs mentioned that they hope to release it as early as possible.
The story in this update will center around “the very best summer vacation”, which is set on Tural, as the new ruler is determined. Alphinaud, Alisaie, Erenville, and the Warrior of Light may also discover the City of Gold, and the Scions will be “divided into two opposing groups”.
The announcement was made as part of the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival, which began today in Las Vegas. The highly anticipated event is being covered in a livestream, where fans also got to view a trailer for the Dawntrail expansion.
You can still catch the rest of the livestream on the Final Fantasy XIV YouTube channel, which continues to elaborate on Dawntrail:
Here’s the full promo image in a new tweet posted from the game’s official feed, which includes a detailed logo alongside the release window:

Today’s trailer was filled with a truly unexpected verve. Dawntrail seems to have an upbeat environment and tone, but not at the expense of delivering all of the high-stakes conflicts and character-driven storytelling that has kept fans invested for so long.
It’s an inventive way to shake up the story. The main theme is “A Journey of Discovery”, and Dawntrail is meant to be the first step in a completely new story that cements the future of the game. So, it’ll be the perfect time for newcomers to jump in and invest, if they were too intimidated by the sprawling existing content before.
